We carry out maintenance and overhaul of hydraulic cylinders at your facility with great care. Air in the oil is one of the most common problems encountered in hydraulic cylinders. The most serious damage is caused by diesel-effect explosions of air in the oil.
Rapidly compressed air reaches such a high temperature that it causes the air-oil mixture in the environment to ignite and explode. This situation is seen more frequently in cylinders operating under variable loads. During this explosion, pressure increases to 5 or 6 times the nominal working pressure. This causes damage to sealing elements, bearing materials, and metal surfaces.
Considering the damage caused by the diesel effect, it is clear that controlling the amount of air in the oil is very important. Therefore, measures must be taken to prevent air from entering the oil tank, pump, valves, and cylinders.
When a cylinder is replaced or commissioned, it must be ensured that there is no air inside. Otherwise, the sealing element will be damaged. When removing a damaged sealing element from a problematic cylinder, this piston must be examined together with its designer and the sealing element manufacturer.
Hydrodynamic pressure is another problem frequently encountered in hydraulic cylinders. Hydrodynamic pressure is when the pressure in the gap between the sealing element and the bearing element in hydraulic cylinders reaches a value far above system pressure, causing permanent deformation of the sealing element.
