What Is a Tandem System?
In a tandem hydraulic cylinder arrangement, two or more cylinders work together to carry the same load or provide synchronised movement. They are used in lifting large platforms, press systems, and applications requiring balance.
Cylinders can be connected mechanically to each other or connected hydraulically in parallel to achieve synchronised movement.
Synchronisation
Flow divider valves are used in hydraulic synchronisation. In mechanical synchronisation, cylinders are connected with a common shaft or chain.
Synchronisation drift can cause tilting on the platform and structural damage. Regular inspection and simultaneous maintenance are critically important.
