Finding the Right Hydraulic Cylinder with an OEM Number

The importance of the original equipment manufacturer number, how to find it, and compatible replacement cylinder supply.

What Is an OEM Number?

The OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) number is the unique identifier assigned to the part by the original equipment manufacturer. This number is the most reliable reference for sourcing the correct replacement cylinder.

The OEM number is usually stamped on the cylinder body, or specified in the machine catalogue or parts list.

How to Find It

Check the label or stamped number on the existing cylinder. Refer to the parts list in the machine operator manual. Query through authorised service or the manufacturer website.

When the OEM number cannot be found, an equivalent cylinder can be manufactured using stroke, bore, connection type, and working pressure measurements.
